Teriyaki Sauce
Teriyaki sauce makes everything better.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sake (or more mirin)
- 1/2 cup mirin (corn syrup-free)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar (55 g)
- Optional: 1/2 tsp minced garlic and/or 1/4 tsp grated ginger
- 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp room temperature water
Directions
- Heat the sake, mirin, soy sauce, and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium high heat until it just comes to a boil.
- Add the garlic and ginger, if using.
- Let boil for a few minutes until it starts to thicken slightly.
- Mix together the cornstarch and water, then add the slurry to the teriyaki sauce to thicken it.
- Store in the refrigerator.
